Use halva to add depth of flavor and texture to a simple green salad. Feel free to add fruit as well. Cranberries, apple slices, peaches and plums can all work beautifully here.

Balsamic vinaigrette


Juice of ½ lemon

1 teaspoon grainy mustard

1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 tablespoons olive oil

Place all ingredients in a jar and shake well to combine.

To assemble the salad:

Mixed salad greens

Fruit of choice


Sea salt and black pepper

Balsamic vinaigrette

Place greens and fruit in a bowl, season with a bit of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add dressing (you will not use the entire jar depending on how many people you are serving, store remaining dressing in the refrigerator)

Once you have tossed the salad with the dressing, crumble a bit of halva over the top and enjoy!
